Bone Gnawer

 

Normally when one thinks of the 'Champions of Gaia', they don't think of someone who lives in sewers, garbage dumps, and slums of the world's cities.  In fact if a poll was done asking who was the Tribe that was the furthest from Gaia's arms, the Bone Gnawers would be picked 10 out of 10 times.  But the Bone Gnawer Tribe knows the truth of the matter.  Gaia isnt' just a part of the unclaimed lakes and forests of the world, nor is she just in the mountain peaks that have been untouched by man.  She is also in the bowels of the urban jungle as well.  The Wyrm is the strongest in the heart of the worlds great cities making Gaia at her weakest there, and in constant need of defense.  Because of this, and unlike most of the other Garou Tribes, members of the Bone Gnawer Tribe are in the fight for Gaia every day.

Looked down upon by the other tribes, the Bone Gnawers can't help the material fact of their situation.  None of the tribe have decent homes or much money; they live on the streets along with the homeless, street thugs, muggers, and the Wyrm-things.  Despite all this, they have found a home amongst the filth and trash, along with their own type of power.  They can create fetishes and talens out of things others would consider nothing but junk.  Social standing amongst the Bone Gnawers have nothing to do with monetary success, or combat ability.  It has everything to do with being able to provide for those in need and combat the Wyrm in a less than obvious fashon.  Though that shouldn't be confused with not being able to fight, it just means that a Gnawer Ahroun is more likley to fight a bit dirty if the need calls for it, not unlike the Tribe's totem Rat.

As a whole, the Bone Gnawers get along relatively well with the Glass Walkers.  Especially with the Gnawer ability to hear whats going on in the street combined with the Glass Walker resources.  Silver Fangs and Red Talons normally revile the Gnawers for being "not wolf engough", many just wishing the tribe would just dissappear.  Most other Tribes just tolerate their presence, letting the children or Rat do as they wish.

Backgrounds:
Lacking respectable upbringing and history, the Bone Gnawers are forbidden to select Ancestors, Pure Breed, or Resources.

Beginning Tribal Gifts:
Cooking, Scent of Sweet Honey, Tagalong

Advantage:
Bone Gnawers are consummate survivors and spies.  Once per session, they may gain an Influence Trate at a rate of one per Rank for the purpose of gathering information.  These influences are not necessarily people, but reflect the Bone Gnawers' knack of "knowing where to look."

Drawback:
Bone Gnawers face considerable scorn from the rest of Garou socieyt as they are on the bottom of the totem pole.  They face a one Trait penalty against all Social Challenges with other Garou.

Wolf Form Description:
Bone Gnawers as  a whole are mangy mutss and their wolf form reflects that.  Most are a mottle of at least 3 different colors, usually flea bitten with matted fur or bald patches.  Most Bone Gnawers try  pass off as a large stray dog, however it is still difficult to hide their wolf heritige and nature.
